Welding Welders join pieces of metal by fusion through heat. The welded pieces might be used in automobiles, space crafts, household appliances, construction equipment and other products. In this program, students learn techniques for various pieces of welding equipment and the safety precautions that relate to them. Applicants for this course must have completed ninth grade. During this three year program, students study the most common types of welding, such as oxygen acetylene, shielded metal arc, gas metal arc (MIG), gas tungsten arc (TIG), flux cored arc, arc cutting, and blueprint reading.
