Ornamental Horticulture & Environmental Landscaping
Ornamental
Horticulturists are the workers in the yards of
America. They work with everything from ornamental
plants and shrubs to turfgrass. These
horticulturists work to beautify the surrounding in
which we live. The first aspect of this career is
that of the Environmental Designer. He/she is the
one who puts together the living landscape. This
person must know the entire spectrum of landscaping
from plant identification to final ink designs. The
next person in this lineup is the landscape
installer. This person must be able to decipher the
design and properly install it into the soil, and
provide proper timely maintenance. This is the
person that makes things happen. The next career
choice is that of the greenhouse worker. They deal
in greenhouse crop production. The many different
plants they deal with are annuals, perennials,
vegetables, foliage plants and nursery stock. The
person that uses many of these plants is the floral
designer. He/she is the one who puts these plants
together in an aesthetically pleasing manner. All of
the careers listed above work in unison to beautify
the world in which we live.
