The priority outcome of a student’s experience at the
Schuylkill Technology Center is to secure a career in
today’s workforce. As part of a training program, the
student learns job search skills, resume development, and
interviewing techniques to compliment the technical
training, which provides our graduates with a competitive
labor market advantage.
A student is encouraged to
participate in various school-to-work programs such as
internships, clinical experiences, job shadowing, and
cooperative education. These opportunities will further
technical training and provide for possible employment
prospects.

An
internship is a non-paid work experience. The length of time
varies from two to six weeks. The workforce mentor evaluates the student
on performance, work habits and attitudes. |

Cooperative education is a paid work experience. A student must
have completed 75% of the program (3 quarters). This is a capstone
program; therefore, any deviation from program hours is not recommended. |
Students must be recommended by their instructor and
meet other student obligations as required by the Job
Placement Office to participate in School-to-Work Programs.
The Job Placement Office provides
“assistance” in locating and pursuing existing employment
opportunities for students through a number of resources
(such as local businesses and labor associations) which
specifically partner with the Schuylkill Technology Center’s
School-to-Work Programs.
Through student commitment, staff involvement, and
the partnership with local and regional employers, the
Schuylkill Technology Center continually strives to provide
the highest quality of technical education to meet the
demands of a global workforce. Job placement statistics are
available through the Job Placement Officer at (570)
874-1034.
